Arriving @ Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands

Arriving @ Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands

Crisp, cold weather. Warm, welcoming friends. The best mix to refresh, renew and reawaken the soul.

Despite a hair-raising start when we almost couldn’t get our tickets and 3 of our party almost not making the bus, the rest of the trip was uneventful… well, except of course for the parts when a small cicada turned all our young men into cats — the “scaredy” kind. We were visited at least 3 times by cicadas and Andy became the hero of the trip.

The first night, we had hot chocolate out in the driveway, because nothing makes hot chocolate taste better than standing in the cold wind in the dark night. Suddenly, someone screams that there’s a HUGE INSECT in the house. Everyone inside, scrambles out. Only brave Andy walks back in, unafraid. He nonchalantly bends over and picks up the wayfaring cicada. He brings it out for us to see and we all begin to snap photos of this huge scary insect that doesn’t bite. Then, Jefferson decides he wants to be brave too, and takes the cicada from Andy’s fingers. The cicada isn’t too happy about that, and curls its little legs around Jefferson’s finger. He promptly freaks out and flicks it off. Which is exactly what the cicada wants (freedom!) and exactly what nobody else wants (its freedom). In less time that it takes to say “chicken”, everyone, including the guys (yes, the MEN) scatter in different directions. Tsk. Tsk.

*Points to note:

  1. Price stated only covers transportation, accommodation and one steamboat dinner. It does not include entrance fees, your food and other expenses (eg. buying souvenirs).
  2. This is an estimated price. If there is excess (likely), we will definitely refund it to you. Right down to the last cent. Feel free to contribute that cent to the coffers of Jurong YA’s non-existent fund =)
  3. Conversely, if there is a shortfall, we beg your understanding and financial generosity. Rest assured that we have done our very utmost to get the best price, include the most items in the tours, and account for as many incidentals that we can. The organizers are paying the same amount as you, and we don’t want to pay any more than we already have either.
  4. To confirm your place, please pay SGD200 by this Saturday. No refunds can be given because this amount will already have been used to secure the accommodations and transport with the vendors.
